Our mission
At JBC we are intentional in carrying out the Great Commission in our young adults’ ministry. The years of young adulthood are crucial in the formation of character, and we want to be purposeful under God’s providence to cement the character of Christ in their hearts. For when they go off to college we want to set them up for success in that chapter of their lives. Their youth group plays a vital role to that end.
We accomplish the Great Commission in the lives of our young adults by teaching them to observe all that Christ commanded. This teaching is provided by our youth pastor, Matt Harkey, who prepares relevant messages from God's Word to teach every Wednesday.
We also fulfill the mission of Christ by training adult leaders to be disciple-making disciples of Christ in the youth group. This takes the form of Wednesday D-groups (Discipleship Groups) where adult leaders meet with their disciples at the end of youth group to discuss the lesson, pray for one another, and plan for outreach projects. There are two outreach projects per year. And bi-annually a month is designated as Youth Outreach Month where, each Sunday of that month, D-groups will have a chance to share with the church during announcements how God has used them in their projects to fulfill the Great Commission that semester.
our meeting
All young adults between the ages of 13-18 years of age or in 7th—12th grades are welcome to join us. We meet on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the church building for a time of fun, teaching from God's Word, and D-groups.
Our Partnership
We believe these goals of our student ministry are accomplished in partnership with parents. The Bible shows that the primary responsibility of the discipleship of children falls on parents. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 sets a precedent for the parents’ discipleship of their children: “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on you heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.” The New Testament echoes this responsibility: “Fathers do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).
Since there is such a high priority placed on parents as primary shepherds in their children’s lives, we view our role in the youth ministry as a partnership in the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry (cf. Ephesians 4:11).
JBC Children’s Ministry is dedicated to excellence in everything we do for all our young children. We take your trust seriously and, as such, all of our JBC ministry volunteers are put through local, state and federal screening procedures before they work with our children.
Our Vision
JBC's Children’s ministry strives to engage children with the life-transforming power of Christ through the written word, to equip them to live as children created in the image of God, and to employ them to serve their Creator and others.

Our Parent Dedications
God has given you a precious gift! (Psalm 127:3) To celebrate and come alongside you, we conduct four Parent/Child dedications each year. If you wish to participate in a Parent/Child Dedication, we ask that you fill out the following form by clicking HERE and reach out to our children's ministry coordinators (Jeff and Erica Nease), Pastor Ben, or Pastor Matt to begin the process.
The purpose of Parent/Child dedications is for parents to present their child before God and the church, committing to seek after His grace and wisdom in carrying out their responsibilities. It's also a time for you, as parents, to commit to model what following Jesus looks like and to raise your children to understand that they are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, to believe that the Bible is absolute Truth, and to know the importance of committing to a community of faith through the local church.
During the scheduled Worship Service, you will have the opportunity, along with other families, to stand before the church, and celebrate the gift of your child!
About
At JBC…
We desire to have a Women’s Ministry that fulfills Titus 2:3-5. The prayer of the elders is that this study would help to fulfill Titus 2 by connecting older and younger women for the purpose of discipleship and training. This study will provide a context where older and younger women can connect with one another, and hopefully, will create pathways for older and younger women to meet together outside of this study in continuing discipleship, training, and encouragement.
Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored (Titus 2:3-5).
Details
Day & Time: from 6:30-8:30pm on the second Monday of each month at the church Facility.
What: The study will begin with worship, a testimony, a time of teaching/sharing by an elder/deacon’s wife and conclude with small group time covering the week’s questions.
Resource: Twelve Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur: Hardcover Book and Workbook
